How we compared

We read each vendor's own pricing and docs pages on 2026-10-07 and used only numbers printed there. For ToolzerHub we ran one search (q=running shoes, country=US, active_status=active) and counted the ads returned. Other options were not run. Where a page does not say how many ads one request returns, the table says "see pricing".

Official Meta Ad Library API

Free, and the only source Meta itself documents. Every request needs an access_token. Meta's reference says ads that did not reach any EU location "only return if they are about social issues, elections or politics". For commercial ads in the US that is a hard stop. Pick it for EU research or political ads. What it returns is covered in what the Meta Ad Library API returns.

ToolzerHub API

GET /v1/meta/search searches the public Ad Library with filters for country, status, media type, dates and advertiser page. Other endpoints cover ad details, ads by page ID or URL, and advertiser search. Each call costs 1 credit. In our test, each call returned 10 ads, and the cursor fetched the next 10. That is 100 calls for 1,000 ads: 100 credits, or $0.10 on the $1.00 per 1,000 credits pack ($499 for 500,000) and $0.19 on the $1.90 pack. Free accounts get 50 credits a month. It falls short on bulk export: 10 ads per call means many requests. Pick it if you want JSON from your own code without Facebook login.

Apify: curious_coder

44,023 total users on its page. Pay per event, "from $0.75 / 1,000 ads". You paste Ad Library search URLs or page URLs and get 30+ fields, including impressions, spend and reach estimates, as JSON, CSV or Excel. The page does not state whether Facebook cookies are needed. Pick it for one-off exports and low cost per ad.

Apify: apify/facebook-ads-scraper

Apify's own Actor, 41,518 total users. $5.80 per 1,000 ads on the free plan down to $3.40 on the business plan, plus an e-commerce add-on. It covers ads across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, Messenger and Audience Network and adds advertiser details such as address and name history. It costs more per 1,000 ads than ToolzerHub and curious_coder. Pick it if you want the advertiser fields or the e-commerce enrichment.

ScrapeCreators

A pay-as-you-go API across 38+ social platforms. The Facebook Ad Library search endpoint costs 1 credit per request and needs an x-api-key. Credits are $1.88 per 1,000 on the $47 pack and $0.99 per 1,000 on the $497 pack, and they do not expire. The pages do not say how many ads one request returns, so price per 1,000 ads is not stated. Pick it if you already use it for other platforms.

Metapi

Built for Ad Library data only. Plans are priced in records per month: $29 for 25,000, $79 for 100,000, $149 for 500,000, with overage from $1.00 down to $0.15 per 1,000 records across those plans. The page does not define a record as one ad. It lists a historical archive and spend estimates. Pick it if you want a flat monthly plan.

When to use something else

  • EU ads, or political ads anywhere: use the official API. It is free.
  • A one-time export to a spreadsheet: an Apify Actor is simpler than writing code.
  • SearchAPI.io lists a meta_ad_library engine. If you already pay for it for Google results, adding it keeps one bill. Its pricing page prints $4 per 1,000 searches at the entry plan ($40 a month for 10,000), and a search is not an ad, so check the credit cost for this engine before relying on it.
  • Millions of ads a month: compare Metapi's higher tiers and ScrapeCreators' large pack on your own ads-per-request number.
