SSC MTS & Havaldar Age Eligibility Calculator

Check your age against SSC MTS (18-25) and Havaldar/CBIC-CBN (18-27) bands, with OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwBD relaxations. Sourced against the latest verified SSC notification.

Age limits verified 2026-08 against SSC MTS & Havaldar 2025 Notification, ssc.gov.in — always confirm against the current-year official notification before applying. This encodes the most recently completed SSC MTS/Havaldar cycle (2025) — the SSC MTS 2026 notification's exact cutoff date was not yet confirmed as of this writing (August 2026). The 18-25 (MTS) / 18-27 (Havaldar) bands and 1 August cutoff-date convention have been stable for several cycles, but re-confirm both once the current notification is out.

How to Use the SSC MTS & Havaldar Age Eligibility Calculator

  1. Enter your date of birth.
  2. Confirm or edit the cutoff date — SSC MTS reckons age "as on 1 August" of the exam year, pre-filled against the most recently completed cycle.
  3. Select the post/level: Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) or Havaldar (CBIC & CBN).
  4. Choose your category and click Check eligibility.

Everything runs as plain JavaScript in your browser tab — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.

Two Different Age Bands Under One Exam

SSC MTS and Havaldar are recruited through the same combined exam, but the two post types have different age bands:

PostAge band
Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Non-Technical18–25 years
Havaldar (Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, Central Bureau of Narcotics)18–27 years

As with every exam in this family, the upper bound is exclusive: a candidate who turns exactly 25 (MTS) or 27 (Havaldar) on the cutoff date has already crossed that post's limit, and the oldest eligible candidate is one day short of their birthday.

Category-wise Relaxation

The standard SSC relaxation table applies to both posts:

CategoryRelaxation on upper age
General / EWS+0
OBC-NCL+3 years
SC / ST+5 years
PwBD (General/EWS)+10 years
PwBD (OBC-NCL)+13 years
PwBD (SC/ST)+15 years

Ex-servicemen get a separate service-linked relaxation that this calculator doesn't compute as a flat number — check the notification's Ex-Servicemen clause directly if that applies to you.

Why the Post-Level Selection Matters

MTS is a 10th-pass-eligible clerical/support role with a narrower 18–25 age band, while Havaldar is a physically demanding uniformed post (with its own PET/PST requirements) carrying a wider 18–27 band. Picking the wrong option in the level dropdown will silently check you against the wrong band, so confirm which post you're actually applying for before reading your result.

What Disqualifies You

  • Falling outside your selected post's age band (or your relaxed upper limit) as on the cutoff date, even by a single day.
  • Not meeting the post's separate physical standards (for Havaldar) — this calculator checks age only, not height, chest, or endurance criteria.
  • Claiming a category relaxation without a currently-valid caste/disability certificate in SSC's prescribed format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I switch between MTS and Havaldar in the same application? That depends on SSC's own application rules for the specific cycle — check the notification, since this calculator only checks age eligibility for whichever post you select.

Does the relaxation apply to the minimum age too? No — only the upper age limit is relaxed; every candidate, regardless of category, must be at least 18.

Has the SSC MTS 2026 notification been confirmed? As of this tool's last verification (August 2026), the exact cutoff date for the current MTS cycle had not been confirmed from primary sourcing — this calculator uses the most recently completed (2025) cycle's figures, clearly dated, until the newer notification is verified.

Is this the official SSC eligibility checker? No. This is an independent, browser-only estimate. Always cross-check your exact date of birth, post, and category against the notification PDF at ssc.gov.in.

Is my data stored anywhere? No. The check runs entirely in your browser; nothing is transmitted to a server.
